13 - 19 February 2023 (week 7)

 We went to the park to play with friends for the morning on a couple of days.

We practiced some times tables activities on white rose maths and played the times table heroes board game.

We read some more articles about space on readworks then we looked up a bit more information about what we had seen and made a poster with a fact. Vinnie chose to draw the Hubble space telescope and write a fact about it.

We read lots of books together.

We threw blocks into a basket and counted up how many we got in then wrote number sentences if our total was a multiple of 2 5 or 10.

We did a mystery science activity about how fast does the Earth spin. We made ourselves into models of the Earth and modelled how it turns towards and away from the sun and why the Sun arcs across the sky from east to west each day.

We had a couple of goes at three minute poetry. We randomly picked 3 words out of the dictionary then set a timer for 3 minutes to make a poem out of those words.

We read about what astronauts eat in space and how they prepare the food. Then we came up with our own menus for a day on board the ISS, taking into account that the food must be possible to be stored for long periods of time and able to be prepared on board.

We made our last experiment from the current letterbox lab. It’s a long grabber hand!

We rolled a 20 sided die and then wrote down number sentences for that number multiplied by 2,5 and 10. Then tried to throw and catch a ball the number of times as was rolled.

We drew some art for kids drawalongs.

Vin used the scratch games book to program a game mostly independently.

We played another game of writing a story while only seeing the last line of the previous person’s writing. This time we had a bit of a murder mystery!

We also played the lists game where we each came up with a title for a type of list then passed it around each adding one item that matches something about the one previous item we could see. We ended up with some interesting lists!
