6 - 12 February 2023 (week 6)
Walked to park to play in playground with friends on a few days.
Bowsers fun with numbers, we read about weight. Went on a weight scavenger hunt around the house to find small heavy items and large light items and different units of measurement.
We started a new mystery science unit all about space. We looked at some long exposure photos of the stars and started to think about why they leave a trail.
We played a funny game where we took it in turns to write bits of a story and finish each other’s sentences but could only see the last few words of the previous person’s bit. Vin thought our story was hilarious.
We did some more train like an astronaut missions and read about why astronauts have to stay fit and healthy.
Walked to a different playground we’d not been to before.
We did some volume themed activities on white rose maths then we experimented with the different shapes to make some predictions about which ones had higher or lower capacity and then filled them with water and measured how much they held.
We made a robo hand from letterbox lab and learned about tendons.
We experimented with gravity and making some universes on a cool website.
We drew Jabba the Hutt using a draw along video.
We read a book out loud together.
We picked some objects and estimated how many grams we thought they weighed, then weighed them and saw whether we were close.
We chose 2 or 3 items at a time, weighed them then added up their weight in grams to practice our column addition.
We wrote letters to inanimate objects in our home.
We played catch with various objects as a challenge!
We watched a video of an author reading ‘how heavy? Wacky ways to compare weights’. Then we came up with our own comparison of weights and drew a picture.
Vinnie created a new alien species and wrote about its various attributes.
We started a new usborne sticker book with space themed pages.
