Yep, more Ancient Egypt! And other things! 25th August - 11 September 2018
In the last couple of weeks Vin and I have...
Played the robot mouse game

Made an Anubis mask

Gone for a walk on Ashdown forest and made a fairy village with friends. Complete with train lines!

Visited the Ashdown forest visitor centre and learned a bit about the history of the land and the creatures that live there.

Volunteered helping weed the orchard at the park

Done some foraging in the blackberry bushes nearby and at a friend's garden! Then made an apple and blackberry crumble.

Made the nintendo Labo RC car and fishing rod

Watched our butterfly caterpillars get even bigger, form chrysalids, then finally emerge and be set free!

We experimented with magnets. We collected items to test for magnetism. We made predictions then checked if we were right. There were some surprises!

We put iron filings in jars, then filled one jar with water and one with oil. We investigated how the filings moved in the different liquids when magnets were stuck to the jars. Then we left the jars for a few days and noticed how very slowly over time, more iron filings were creeping towards the magnets!

We made magnetic slime and regular slime to compare them. The magnet just sits on top of the regular slime, it gets slowly sucked into the magnetic slime! We discovered we could blow bubbles in the regular slime though!

We went on an animal facts trail at Bluewater shopping centre and found out a bit about animals from around the world.

Then we built a lego model at the Lego Store.

Vinnie started a notebook, so he could keep any special drawings or things he'd learned about. He decorated the front. There are already some lovely pictures and things in it.

We played a game to try and aim balled up socks onto the right number step. It ended up being more fun to have a sock fight!

And of course, loads of lego building, magazines and comics, puzzles, board games, and about a billion books read! We've enjoyed some really fun library books about Ancient Egypt too. Vin keeps coming out with lots of facts that he has read and remembered.
