We've had another fun week here at the Bowser and DK Academy!
We had our lovely outing to Herstmonceux on Monday.
On Tuesday we read ABC Zoo by Rod Campbell and did some activities. We filled in some missing letters on a big sheet of paper with the alphabet. Then we matched up the animals we had with ones in the book. We didn't have every animal in the story, so we found some other items for the other letters!
Then we experimented with the Nintendo Labo house for a while. We learned how the joycon senses the different items you can put in the house and how it knows what you've chosen. We had a lot of fun playing with the little creature that lives in the house!
On Wednesday we read "On Beyond Zebra" by Dr Seuss. It inspired us to create our own unusual letters and think of some creatures that could start with that letter.
Then Vinnie decorated his Labo RC Car and made it UNIQUE!
On Thursday we did a survey of the wetlands at the park. We found a lot of water fleas, as well as a huge dragonfly nymph and a water boatman.
On Friday, Vinnie and his friend decided to bury the slide at the playground! And then experimented driving their cars down it.
On Saturday we went to the Sevenoaks Young Readers Festival Day.
We heard some lovely stories read by the authors - Katherine McEwen, Candy Gourlay and David Litchfield. There were also fun crafts and a very cute puppet show called Spaced! put on by the Strangeface Theatre Company (who also did the puppetry workshop we did at our local park last Summer!)
We had a fun day, and Vin chose a new book to buy called Audrey the Amazing Inventor by Rachel Valentine (who was also at the festival but we didn't get there early enough to see). The book along with the lego Amazing Inventions cards Vin is collecting is inspiring us to try our own inventions!
