Summer holidays

We were away for a week last week and while we were on holiday I realised we hadn't put up all of our Summer activities we did! We were obviously too busy having fun because we did looooadds!

We visited Legoland


We added glitter to oats to make sparkly sand and hid a puzzle in there to find and make.


We saw a play at the park of Alice through the Looking Glass


We made letter shapes out of Lego minifigures


We found pawprints in the park and made our own out of clay


Vinnie discovered he quite likes colouring!


We climbed rocks and trees


We played hide and seek


Vinnie completed the "Animal Agents" reading challenge at the library


We saw dinosaurs at the shopping centre!


We did trails and activities at the museum


We went for walks in rain and shine


We played at Bedgebury


And at Haysden Country park


We played board games


And made dens


We did a puppetry workshop


We did our usual volunteering including bird and bee surveys


We went to the Dr Seuss exhibition at the Discovery Centre in Stratford


We played with PlayDoh


We made a tree at the museum (and another trail of course!)


Plus lots of playing, seeing friends and a LOT of Lego building! What a great summer :)

 This is our last week of the year before we take 3 weeks off for Christmas and New Year. Our week started with something a bit unusual - snow! We went sledging, built a snow gorilla, had snowball fights and of course, as per our theme, built snow castles! Our theme for article of the week this week is all about the lead up to the Age of Exploration. We read about the travels of Marco Polo, the methods used for navigation, the spice trade, and the new ships the Europeans started making in the Middle Ages to help them travel longer distances. We had some more fun with numbers. We practiced more adding and subtracting within 20 and tried out some different methods of making it easier when subtracting such as breaking the number down so you can get to an easier number first then subtract the rest. 28 June - 4 July (week 26)

 A bit of a quieter week this week as we had a few family things to do. We made some lego stop motion videos. We found the youtube channel of the person from the legocon thing we watched last week and got some tips and inspiration. Then we set up our scenes and made our own. We played with lots of lego too, watched some octonauts, played some games.  We went out to a new nature area with some friends and we identified some creatures we found using google lens on the app. We think this guy is a lesser stag beetle. The first 2 strawberries from our garden were ready to eat! We also went to a wedding and Vin had fun playing with some children there.

19 - 25 June 2023 (week 25)

 This week we did some more activities about money. We practiced identifying coins and adding them up. We played Ed and Bunny go shopping. Vinnie filled in an activity sheet with lots of addition and subtraction of money. V read a couple of story books about people saving money and raising money. We also did some white rose maths activities. We did the letterbox lab experiment making a rubber band helicopter. We tried out different things to find out the best balance between size and weight of the helicopter compared to the blades.  Vinnie did some pages from his handwriting book, his comprehension activities book and his spelling practice book.  He drew some lovely fun pictures. He is very inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog at the moment so has drawn some fun scenes with the characters from the games and cartoons. We did some puzzles together.
