23 - 29 October 2023 (week 43)

We watched a video about animals at a waterhole and did some practice multiplying by 4 and 2.

We watched the next video about tectonic plates and learned about ways to prepare for earthquakes and various different buildings that have had modifications or were designed to be more resistant to earthquakes.

Vin put together a puzzle of all the tectonic plates and we looked at where the joins were and which countries were found there.

Vin drew a picture of what he would put in a kit to prepare for if there was an earthquake. (That’s a lighter, not a gun, he’s not planning to go on a rampage in the event of a natural disaster).

We listened to some Spanish alphabet songs, and Vin did some puzzles from our Spanish activity book.

We practiced spotting nouns and proper nouns in an activity book.

We did some ladybird themed puzzles that practiced 4 and 7 times tables.

Vinnie did some writing activities from a book. Learning about editing writing, combining or splitting sentences to make them easier to read.

He had a go at some little projects in Scratch and a recap about different things you can change. Then he tried drawing some sprites in scratch.

We played some board games, practicing working together in cooperative games and being a good sport in competitive games.

Vinnie made a poster for the numbers 1-10 in Spanish.

He made a writing plan thinking about who, what, where and why to come up with ideas for a story.

Vin worked on some 7 times table activity sheets and did a coordinates Halloween picture puzzle.

We watched some dolphins hunting in different ways and calculated some puzzles based on the numbers of fish they trapped in mud nets.

Vin had a go at writing some noun phrases.

We made an ‘unburstabubble’ with a bag filled with water. We learned how the polymers in the bag wrapped around the pencils as they went through so it made a seal and didn’t leak.

Then vin made a little foam boat and we learned how soap alters the surface tension of water so if you put a dot of soap behind the boat , the surface tension at the back is less than at the front so the boat is pulled forward.

We read the Stuarts adventure from Vin’s mystery in time box. It’s about the Great fire of London and a bit about Guy Fawkes and bonfire night too.
