9 - 15 may (week 19)

We started the week outside in the garden making the most of the sunshine. We played with the story sack Vin got last week from the library (and i forgot to list last week's library books oops!). It was the bad tempered ladybird, we played a ladybird counting game and read a book about ladybirds.

We went and played foot-basket-ball at the nearby court.

We joined in with another Andy's wild workout video. 

We opened up the next letterbox lab and did the first experiment. We dyed some paper with red cabbage, then we drew on it with vinegar and sodium bicarbonate solution and saw how the paper changed colours. We learned that this was because of acids and alkalis.

We looked at photos and talked about the similarities and differences between families from different countries of the world. We wondered what it would be like to live in different places. We thought about the important people in our lives and how we can show them we care.

Vin played more funny kahoot times table games on the phone on several days this week.

At communigrow this week we learned about amphibians and all the children worked together to plan and build a nice home for some amphibians near the little pond.

Afterwards, Vin went to the playground nearby with his friend then we went to the library and picked up another story sack Vin had been excited to borrow again! (the big red bath).

We read the next chapter in the English activity book and did lots of puzzles about signs and our senses.

Vin opened up his next Mystery in Time box - this time all about Vikings. We read the story and had a look at the map and timeline.

Vin did some quizzes on Khan Academy maths practicing adding 100s, 10s and 1s and ways of visualising that.

We did the cosmic kids yoga club dancing yoga videos.

We did the final anchor activity for our plants topic on Mystery Science. We looked at how the life cycle of the silver reed plant and the dung beetles were affected by each other.

We read about String Quartets and listened to a variety of examples of string quartets.

Vin built a cool meccano bike and later modified it into a trike.

We printed and cut out a little theatre and characters from a book "the greatest show on earth" by Mini Grey. Vin had fun making some different backdrops by drawing one and using some of his books and drawing his own character.

With his daddy, Vinnie learned about racecars and how they go so fast.
