Vin's Learning Journey

 We had this week off as an Easter break. We went to Communigrow and a person from the West Kent Badger Group came to tell us all about badgers. There are badgers at the site too so we looked around at signs of where they had been snuffling and found paw prints in the sand trap and a couple of latrines the badgers had obviously dug fairly recently...! We went to the seaside and had a nice day in the sun. Other than that we took it easy and played board games and enjoyed having some time off.

 This week we completed the Yoga Quest for cosmic kids yoga adventures. We started it well over a year ago but forgot to do it for quite a long time... We also did another Andy's wild workout and we made the most of the nice weather by going out for several walks to see all the beautiful flowers and plants springing into life.  We had a nice walk around Sissinghurst castle admiring the gardens and orchards and doing an Easter trail. We played the What's the time Mister Wolf board game. We looked at some baby pictures of people we know and talked about how much people change as they grow up and what babies need compared to what older children or grown ups need.  We made a cool swirly cloud in a bottle with the letterbox lab. Vin played lots of Kahoot multiplication games. We had a look at some of the chess puzzles in Vin's book and played some more games. We read the story about going back in time to the Victorian era from Vin's mystery in time box. Vin practiced drawing...

 This week we went on a yoga adventure with Nelson the pigeon, tried out an "Andy's wild workout" video, and danced along with some super movers times table videos. We looked at the Mystery Science anchor activity about plants (which we meant to do before the activity the other week!). We talked about different stereotypes we know and how stereotypes get spread and whether we can always tell what someone is like or what their favourite things are based on what they look like. We built a model of Tower Bridge and played Ludo from the next Mystery in Time box (Victorians).   Vin played on the Kahoot multiplication app some more. We read about trees and the new leaves growing for Spring and spotted lots of new shoots and leaves growing on a walk around nearby. We read some excerpts from Anne of Green Gables and did some quiz questions about it. We started the next letterbox lab box, all about slimes. We made a slime with shampoo, corn flour and water and explored its non-new...

 For writing practice this week we copied out a couple of funny limericks.  Vin enjoyed playing on the kahoot multiplication app some more as well as playing some games on the BBC bitesize website. We did a couple more pages in the maths puzzle pad. We read about snails and frogs and toads in the exploring nature with children book and read the poems and admired the selected paintings. We cut out some paper flowers from the letterbox lab and timed how long they took to open in water.  We talked about asking permission and listening to other people and what to do when we see people do things they're not supposed to. We put some sea creature stickers into the sticker book and looked at the world map maze book as well as some other activity books.  At communigrow we learned how to plant seeds and how to plant out seedlings.  We did some drawalong videos. Vin chose Super Mario themed. We did some exercise videos and games. We puzzled out a Star wars themed unlock! ...
