20 December 2021 - 2 January 2022 (weeks 51 and 52!)

These 2 weeks are not really home ed as we had 2 weeks "off" but it's nice to have an update as a memento.

We've had lots of fun solving the Exit Advent calendar each day, Vin was a big help with the puzzles!

We've been on lots of walks to admire all the beautifully decorated houses and to explore nearby places.



We went to Scotney Castle and did their "Percy the Park Keeper" trail, finding the places around the grounds and helping Percy.



We baked biscotti to give as gifts (and for us!)


Vinnie looked at lots of Lego instructions online and was particularly inspired by the Daily Bugle set and built his own. I was very impressed by how he used hinge pieces to angle the wall so it looks like a bad guy is bursting through it just like on the real set. He made a sign saying Daily Bugle too out of lego pieces.



Vin got loads of awesome new toys for Christmas, lots of lego and a Gravitrax set which is like a fancy marble run and we've seen lots of people using in their chain reaction videos recently!

Vin built a very cute hotel and restaurant for cuddly animals at his friend's house.


We've had a nice couple of weeks off. It's a short week next week too so we still have a bit of time to relax!

 This is our last week of the year before we take 3 weeks off for Christmas and New Year. Our week started with something a bit unusual - snow! We went sledging, built a snow gorilla, had snowball fights and of course, as per our theme, built snow castles! Our theme for article of the week this week is all about the lead up to the Age of Exploration. We read about the travels of Marco Polo, the methods used for navigation, the spice trade, and the new ships the Europeans started making in the Middle Ages to help them travel longer distances. We had some more fun with numbers. We practiced more adding and subtracting within 20 and tried out some different methods of making it easier when subtracting such as breaking the number down so you can get to an easier number first then subtract the rest. 28 June - 4 July (week 26)

 A bit of a quieter week this week as we had a few family things to do. We made some lego stop motion videos. We found the youtube channel of the person from the legocon thing we watched last week and got some tips and inspiration. Then we set up our scenes and made our own. We played with lots of lego too, watched some octonauts, played some games.  We went out to a new nature area with some friends and we identified some creatures we found using google lens on the app. We think this guy is a lesser stag beetle. The first 2 strawberries from our garden were ready to eat! We also went to a wedding and Vin had fun playing with some children there.

19 - 25 June 2023 (week 25)

 This week we did some more activities about money. We practiced identifying coins and adding them up. We played Ed and Bunny go shopping. Vinnie filled in an activity sheet with lots of addition and subtraction of money. V read a couple of story books about people saving money and raising money. We also did some white rose maths activities. We did the letterbox lab experiment making a rubber band helicopter. We tried out different things to find out the best balance between size and weight of the helicopter compared to the blades.  Vinnie did some pages from his handwriting book, his comprehension activities book and his spelling practice book.  He drew some lovely fun pictures. He is very inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog at the moment so has drawn some fun scenes with the characters from the games and cartoons. We did some puzzles together.
