Vin's Learning Journey

 This week for writing practice, we printed out some words to trace and copy from the letterjoin website on a few days. Vinnie wrote a thank you card to his auntie and uncle. We finished our mystery science lesson we started last week and chose some suitable energy sources for Boulderville!   We did a "TEAM" activity about listening. We talked about how we can show someone we are listening, why it's important to listen, in which situations it's important to listen carefully. We practiced making block towers by listening to the instructions from the other person, we played ag ame with different instructions for specific words and had to listen to what they called out and do the correct action We did some cooking at Communigrow this week. We made pumpkin pancakes and potato scones. We did a bit of letterjoin practice on one day and a bit of writing during other activities on a couple of other days. Vinnie started writing his Christmas list which involved quite a lot of writing! We looked at how his writing is now and how it was not long ago and Vinnie feels proud of his achievement from working so hard at joined up writing.  On Monday we went for a walk to look for some nuts ready for our nut themed communigrow session on Tuesday. We found some sweet chestnuts and some old beech nuts. We found lots of really cool mushrooms!  On Tuesday we went to Communigrow. We learned a bit about the difference between fruits, drupes and nuts. Vin concentrated really well and enjoyed cracking open lots of nuts and seeds. We also went to the library - we have changed to a different library that is near to Communigrow but is open more often and larger than the other one we've been going to. We had a bit of a quiet week this week and did some different kinds of things for a break. We talked about keeping ourselves healthy, ways we take care of ourselves. We taught some of Vin's cuddlies how to stay clean in the bathroom! We played head shoulders knees and toes but thought up other body parts too to remember. We practiced learning to tie bows. We did a Hey Duggee workout badge. We played a game of guess the hidden item by feeling it. Vin prepared snacks for us and made lunch for us one day independently (pasta salad - I supervised by pouring the hot water and draining it but he did the rest).   We went to Communigrow and helped to make a large beetle habitat in the grounds there and a smaller one to take home and put in our garden.   We went for a nice walk to admire the Autumn colours.
