11 - 17 October (week 41)

We had some extra special activities this week.

On Monday we went to Legoland! It matched our mystery science theme pretty well...we could experience first hand that energy stored = energy released = fun fun fun!

On the other days we worked on our writing of course, and updating the calendar like every week.

We did the next activity in our "aiming high" activities. It involved some more games of guess the job and talking about skills and interests that would suit particular occupations. We also talked about how any one could have those skills and interests regardless of what they look like or where they're from.

We had to split our mystery science this week over 2 days as it was quite a lengthy one! It involved making even more track for our bumper coaster and some hills. Once we had made it, we conducted some experiments with it. We also talked about how what we learned related to the OK Go music video from the Anchor activity.

Vinnie helped to prepare a pasta salad for our lunch one day and also chopped up some apples.

We went for another walk to explore some new areas near our house. We looked on the map and followed our route.

We read the rest of the Aztec facts and did the quiz. Vin has found the Aztecs quite interesting although is not so keen on the sacrifices. He had a book from the library about the Mayans as well which tied in a bit as the Aztecs were influenced by Mayan traditions too. He didn't really like the book though as it mentioned a lot of unpleasant things too!

We made a mag lev model that Vinnie had got from his birthday. There are a few different experiments to try. Vin also enjoyed playing with the magnets.

We went to the library and exchanged a few books.

We played the bus stop game which is really very very easy for Vin
now. My suggestion of making the maths a bit more complicated was met with a counter suggestion to just add bad luck spaces which seemed to just make the game take a whooooole lot longer!

We watched a stop motion video as part of the Tunbridge Wells puppetry festival and then we went to see the little models of the characters that were used in it. We also watched some live puppet shows and saw the "Museum of the Moon" exhibit in the park.
