16th - 21st September Mega Week of outings!

This week we have been on a lot of lovely days out!

On Monday we went to Legoland. Vin loved the Dragon ride, seeing all the lego buildings in miniland and lots of other rides. He enjoyed the "Officer in Pursuit" 4D show, which is the first time he's been brave enough to go into a cinema style show. Even at Legoland he can't help but have to learn and figure things out - he likes turning the press a penny machines wherever we go and he spent a while checking out the different speeds that the gears went depending on their size!

On Wednesday we went to Port Lympne. Vin enjoyed seeing the tiger and the gorillas and going on a safari ride - we went on the safari twice in the end! Vin did really well being patient watching the animals and spent a lot of time watching the gorillas particularly a baby one. He really liked the dinosaur forest too and had a lot of fun pretending to be scared of the dinosaurs!

On Friday we visited Dover Castle. We explored the old castle and the medieval tunnels. We particularly liked the old kitchen and spent some time pretending to be preparing a feast for the king! Then Vin found the War signalling equipment, morse code machines and binoculars and other signal codes, and the big guns quite interesting. He went in the secret war tunnels to see a tour that explained about Operation Dynamo - the mission to evacuate Allied troops from France. It was quite dark and loud so Vin was super brave!

On Saturday we went to the Sevenoaks Young Readers Festival. We saw some authors and illustrators reading their stories and teaching us how to draw some of their characters. There was Rachel Valentine, Emily Gravett, Sophy Henn and Sav Akyuz. We have read books by all these authors before apart from Sav so it was really great to see the authors. Vin bought a book by Sophy Henn and she signed it for him and had a really nice chat with him. Vin found a bench and was off to read his new book within minutes!

It's been a busy week but a lot of fun!
