We had another lovely day out at Herstmonceux. They were running a show about Isaac Newton and some bridge building activities for Home educating families. Vin had a great time playing with all the exhibits and building an Arch Bridge and a Truss bridge.

We enjoyed doing some activities from the Zog trail activity pack.

We also played games in the garden to practice counting in 2s 5s and 10s as well as trying to do a few times tables. Vin did some of his activity book about halves.

We got some new pattern blocks and small mirrors taped together to have some fun making patterns. Vin's imagination was awesome at making fun pictures with the tiles! He found it interesting as well how making a pattern with the parallelograms made it look like a 3D shape. He asked if this was an optical illusion.

We went to Bedgebury and had a nice day playing and spotting butterflies, listening to the crickets and watching some people felling an area of trees and putting them in the wood chipper. We also saw a buzzard, a huge ant hill and some dragonflies. We read a sign about pinecones and found some in the pinetum that looked similar. Vin enjoyed pretending to make pizzas in a play area he likes to pretend is a pizza shop. When we got home it was so warm we played with a big tub of water outside and put Vin's animal toys in it.

We made Kale chips with olive oil, salt and soy sauce. They were not to my taste but Vin quite liked them!

We went to the lifeboat station at Dungeness and saw the lifeboat and it's truck. We visited the Derek Jarman garden there too. Vin really liked the sculptures made out of pebbles and old bits of metal. We had a nice time playing on the beach too.
