Some of the things we've been up to recently...

We talked about inventions and I wrote down Vin's answers to the questions:


Vin came up with an idea for his own invention, designed it and then built it:


We drew a really big racetrack, and decorated it and put race car stickers on:


Vin built a really cool dinosaur


We went to Bluewater and Vin built and launched his own starship


We did the nature trail there


We did the Monthly Mini Build at the lego store. It was a cute scarecrow and pumpkins


Vin decorated the bags for his party


He tried out his new pens, and played with all his lovely new toys.


We went to Bedgebury pinetum and went on all the playground areas. While there we also collected some sweet chestnuts which we later prepared and roasted to try.


We went to Drusillas and had a lot of fun on a birthday day out. Vin enjoyed seeing all the animals, stamping his animal spotter book, and going on all the rides. He did lots of reading to us telling us all abotu the animals from their signs!


Plus lots of reading, colouring, playing hang-man, sooooo much lego building and loads and loads of playing and having fun :)

 This is our last week of the year before we take 3 weeks off for Christmas and New Year. Our week started with something a bit unusual - snow! We went sledging, built a snow gorilla, had snowball fights and of course, as per our theme, built snow castles! Our theme for article of the week this week is all about the lead up to the Age of Exploration. We read about the travels of Marco Polo, the methods used for navigation, the spice trade, and the new ships the Europeans started making in the Middle Ages to help them travel longer distances. We had some more fun with numbers. We practiced more adding and subtracting within 20 and tried out some different methods of making it easier when subtracting such as breaking the number down so you can get to an easier number first then subtract the rest. 28 June - 4 July (week 26)

 A bit of a quieter week this week as we had a few family things to do. We made some lego stop motion videos. We found the youtube channel of the person from the legocon thing we watched last week and got some tips and inspiration. Then we set up our scenes and made our own. We played with lots of lego too, watched some octonauts, played some games.  We went out to a new nature area with some friends and we identified some creatures we found using google lens on the app. We think this guy is a lesser stag beetle. The first 2 strawberries from our garden were ready to eat! We also went to a wedding and Vin had fun playing with some children there.

19 - 25 June 2023 (week 25)

 This week we did some more activities about money. We practiced identifying coins and adding them up. We played Ed and Bunny go shopping. Vinnie filled in an activity sheet with lots of addition and subtraction of money. V read a couple of story books about people saving money and raising money. We also did some white rose maths activities. We did the letterbox lab experiment making a rubber band helicopter. We tried out different things to find out the best balance between size and weight of the helicopter compared to the blades.  Vinnie did some pages from his handwriting book, his comprehension activities book and his spelling practice book.  He drew some lovely fun pictures. He is very inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog at the moment so has drawn some fun scenes with the characters from the games and cartoons. We did some puzzles together.
