8 - 14 August (week 32)

Another scorcher of a week. We made the most of the cooler mornings by having a very early trip out for a walk on one day and a bike ride on another.

We started a new book to work through, about computers and what things they can be used for.

We did some more experimenting with line drawings. We tried out a few different materials such as pencils, felt pens, pastels and crayons and noticed the types of lines they made. We read a book called "Harold and the purple crayon". Vinnie drew some more of his own comics.

We did some super yoga videos.

Vin played quite a bit of kahoot again this week.

We read some lego explorer magazines about electricity and wildlife.

We read a poem about a trip to Mexico and did the accompanying puzzles and activities. It was the last activity in that book so we thought back about what has been our favourite piece of writing from the book and why.

We played the board game Dungeon! but with some new rules to encourage a bit of practice of division. Each monster gives you a number and depending on the level you're on, it is divisible by one of two numbers. To defeat the monster, you have to figure out how to divide its number.

We started a new letterbox lab about UV light. We wrote and drew some things in "invisible ink" and shone the little UV torch at it and saw how it shone light back and became visible. We drew with UV sunblock onto some special paper that reflects UV light and saw how the parts with the sunblock blocked the UV from getting to the paper!

Vin made his own board game and we played it.

We read the new Mystery in Time book. This time they visit Ancient China.

We read about the types of music in theatre such as opera, musicals and operetta. We listened to a bit and looked at a fancy theatre in Italy but then Vin got a bit distracted and looked up Ninja temples and we read about a temple called Myoryuji and listened to some traditional japanese music instead! We drew our own Ninja temples. (or in Vin's case, Vinja temple - all the good guys have V's on them)

We took a google street view tour of some places in Japan and then had a little world tour visiting some cold looking fishing villages in Greenland, beautiful green towns and islands in Vietnam, the Sydney opera house and many other places!

Vin played with his nintendo labo a bit and made a new part so he could create his own race courses.

We played the game Mobi.
