This week we wrote out some poems and jokes to practice handwriting.    Vin has been enjoying a multiplication game on the phone recently and has played it quite a few times this week.  We read about the Spring Equinox and about birds coming back from their migration to start making nests. We also looked at some paintings and read poems relating to these topics. Communigrow home ed lessons started again so we went there. We learned more about seeds and how they start to grow. Vinnie planted some pea seeds in a tray and made a plant maze - some peas in a small pot inside a shoe box with a hole in the top and various obstacles inside for it to grow through. Later in the week the pea plants had already started to grow!   We visited the library and Vinnie read lots of books. We started doing some maths on the Khan Academy website. Vinnie has chosen to start with the "year 2" course so it is a little bit simple but he has already done nearly half of it within the we...

We've had a fun couple of weeks! (do i write that every time? Probably!) We visited Drusillas zoo and had a lovely time looking at the animals, playing in the playgrounds, and riding on the rides! Vinnie drew a very true-to-character picture of Looshkin which was complimented by the original author. We read more of the murderous maths books each day and had fun doing some of the puzzles in them including making more moebius strips and creating a postcard that you can crawl through. We watched and solved along with Maddie and Greg's mystery of the moon flower interactive video, looking at the cambridge botanical gardens and finding out about some interesting plants. We read Vin's plants edition of the Lego Explorer magazine.  With his dad, Vin learned a bit about reading music, the stave and notes. We practiced letter-join handwriting program: we did some dictation, wrote out some palindromes, and practiced good spacing between words. We did an experiment from our letterbox...

The past fortnight we have: Been to a new playground with our friends, tried out the outdoor gym equipment, and seen some donkies. Got lots of lovely new books at the library and spent lots of time reading them. We've been reading quite a few of the Murderous Maths series of books recently and having fun doing the tricks and maths tips in them. Built a model Saturn V and launchpad, and a model curiosity rover.   We learned some card games and played them together. We went out and visited friends and family. We baked jellybean cookies and brought some to the park to share with friends at the playground. We read a choose your own adventure book set in Ancient Rome learning about various aspects of Roman life.  We did some static electricity experiments using our magic wand, balloon, and polystyrene balls. We also saw how when we charged up the wand, a stream of water bent slightly towards it. We talked about the electrons and protons in atoms and how negatives repel each o...
