1 - 10 June Vikings!
We've been doing a bit about the Vikings this month so far. Neither of us really knew much about them so we're learning together.
The first thing Vin did after choosing the topic was to go and make a Viking Longboat out of lego! I guess he did know something about them after all!

We printed out some facts about when the Vikings came to our country. We drew a big timeline so we could get a perspective of when they came here and then stuck the key events onto our timeline.

We read a bit about the Vikings, where they came from and answered some questions and Vin drew a Viking warrior.

The playmobil Vikings helped us of course. We looked up pictures of foods that Vikings might have eaten and some that they wouldn't and talked about why they would have eaten certain things and what wouldn't have been available. Vin drew some pictures of the different foods and a farm and played with his Viking toys foraging and hunting to get the food.

We went to the seaside (socially distanced of course! We didn't go off in a longboat and invade any other countries).

We learned a new card game! (Mini Rogue print and play)

We looked in the Atlas to identify the modern day countries that the Vikings would have lived in and where they sailed to and from.

Vin has really been enjoying looking up the Lego instructions online and using them as inspiration for his own builds so he has been spending a lot of time building lego.
We'll be continuing our Viking fun for a few more days.
