Vin's Learning Journey

We planned a bit of a quieter week for this week as been working hard lately! Vinnie chose the theme of motor vehicles and motor sports. We stuck some bits of tape on the top of some of Vin's toy cars and wrote 2 sets of the numbers 0 - 9 on them. Then we rolled two ten sided dice and added them together and had to park the right cars in the garage. We also did some adding with the cars that were parked and also Vin made up a memory game with the cars where we lined up 8 cars and then one person took one away and the other person had to remember which one it was. We also got lots of comics out into the tent in the garden and had fun reading and doing the puzzles. We did the PE with Joe every morning again! And loads of drawing. We played board games and Vin drew his own character for one of the board games and some cards for it. We visited the BBC bitesize website and did some of the activities from their current home education daily activities on a couple of the days. ...

Another fun packed 2 weeks spent mostly at home! The first week we chose Dinosaurs for a theme. We joined in with the live youtube stream "PE with Joe" every morning to start the day. We played Vinnie's Dinosaur brain box game. We read a dinosaur ebook we downloaded and did some quiz sheets about it. The first one was "Remembering the facts". We did the other quiz sheets on different days so they will appear later on... I hid dinosaur eggs around the garden and house with the 2 times table on so we had to answer the multiplication when we found each egg. We hid them a few times! We joined the Rosetta Stone website as it has a free trial at the moment so we thought we'd try and learn more Dutch on there. We did 10 minutes or so on it over the course of the 2 weeks on 4 or 5 days. Vin also enjoyed reading his Dutch Donald Duck comic and we found an episode of Twirlywoos to watch that was dubbed into Dutch. We did the traditional volcano experiment a...

The past couple of weeks we have done "PE with Joe" on youtube every morning at 9 o clock. He's been putting on a daily workout because all the schools are closed and everyone is having to stay at home.  We also decided to have a different "theme" each week. The first week was castles. (It's been hard to get pictures of some things because Vin is drawing a lot at the moment so as soon as the activity on one side of the paper is done, it becomes drawing paper!) We got a really cute book and wooden castle to piece together. We had fun acting out the story from the book and making up our own stories with the characters. We also had fun with a castles sticker book and read a bit about what life was like in a castle while making some fun scenes. Vin did the whole sticker book during the week. We watched Maddie Moate's new live show on youtube too a couple of times this week. It was about birds on one day. We did another page in our birds sticker book abo...
