13th November 2019 - 6th January 2020 A long update!

It has been a long time since we last updated the blog! Here's a look back at what we have been up to...

In mid November, Vinnie went on his very first trip to the cinema. We went to see "Abominable" as part of the Into Film Festival.  We used all of the educational resources available on their website before and after seeing the film.

We learned about China, watched the film trailer, talked about the characters, looked on the globe, wrote facts about China and drew pictures. We played a board game and answered lots of quiz questions. As soon as we got home from the cinema, Vinnie went and made a poster all about it! He asked me to print some pictures and write the title for him and then he worked hard on his own to make a really cool poster.

We visited Hever Castle and Gardens. We enjoyed walking around the gardens, solving the maze and exploring the castle.  Vin had fun in the playground and looking at the model homes.

Vinnie took an interest again in learning about time (this comes and goes!) as well as carrying on with some maths and writing activity books.

Vin enjoyed reading the book "Nothing to see here hotel" by Steven Butler. I found some activities to print out on the publishers website.

We went to various parks and garden centres to play with friends. Vin made so so soooo many different amazing lego creations. He has had some lovely ideas again recently.

We've had some really nice story sacks too and read loads of wonderful stories. Vin has enjoyed finding more about African countries, we looked up videos of some of the places and Vin liked seeing the Burundi Royal drummers.

Vin has had fun drawing some of his favourite characters as well as his own ideas.

We've watched some Mystery Science videos including ones about time zones and mountains and volcanoes. In Winter we watched some videos and mini lessons about January being the first month, why polar bears hibernate and why it is colder in Winter.

We have played lots of board games and made up our own games.

We visited the Tiger who came to tea exhibition at Knole and learned a bit about Judith Kerr. Vin did some fun activity sheets including a word search and colouring. He drew his own feast for a tiger on the back. We also explored a bit around Knole park and the tower.

We visited several other National Trust properties to admire their Christmas decorations too.

We did some baking to make gifts for friends for Christmas and also some crafts to make decorations for our house.

Vin has played some educational games on the computer (as well as some not so educational ones ;D)

We've done some learning about the Earth and how it is tilted which causes the change in temperatures during different seasons.
We're looking forward to learning a bit more about the seasons.
