Egyptian theme continued, and other things! 13th August - 24th August

We've carried on with the Egyptian theme this week, as well as some other things.
We bought the Usborne book "See Inside Ancient Egypt".

It was really interesting. At the end of the book there were also links to lots of great websites with some fun games to do with Ancient Egypt.

We went to the local pet store and met some of the little furry animals

Vin made a lego minifigure into the sun god Ra

He made a temple for him too

We went to the Airshow at Eastbourne "Airbourne".

For the next couple days afterwards, vinnie made a lot of paper airplanes and put on his own airshows! (this picture is only about a small fraction of them!)

We read the poem "The Crocodile" by Lewis Carroll. Vinnie liked the idea of the little fishies being lured into his snappy mouth!
Vin drew a couple of Nile crocodiles.

Vin did lots of colouring and activities from his Egyptian activity book.

We visited Bedgebury and found some of the sculpures hidden in the pinetum, as well as building some tunnels in the sand pit!

Vin tried out the "Tour" mode from a game set in Ancient Egypt. You can visit the landmarks and learn a lot of information about them!

He dressed up like the character from the game

We did a trail around the park to find out some facts about wild animals.

We were given some caterpillars and a butterfly enclosure. We have been watching the caterpillars grow and grow! They are so big now we think they may soon go into their chrysalises.

After quite a few months of asking for writing practice, Vin is not currently enjoying it very much. So we will think of some other ways to make it more fun and have a bit of a break from it in the mean time.
