May Day Bank Holiday Train theme week!
Trains are one of Vinnie's favourite things, so it was an easy choice for a theme!
We all visited the Eastbourne Miniature Steam Railway on the bank holiday Monday. Vinnie loves it here so much. We rode the train loads of time, played in the playgrounds and admired the model railway layouts.

The next day, Vinnie wanted to make his own version of the EMSR. He used the map from the leaflet and copied the layout using his wooden train track.

Throughout the week, Vinnie built all the bits of his lego train set too and made a few different track layouts, including this one outside.

Volunteering day was a bird and bee survey. Perfect excuse to go and coo over the ducklings and baby moorhens as well as admiring the bees and butterflies.

At art group, Vinnie drew a wonderful picture of the station and the train "Rachel" from the Eastbourne Miniature Railway. He took such care over getting all the details just right!

We visited Pepenbury woodland with some friends and got to enjoy even more bluebells! We also saw loads of bee flys which are one of Vin's favourite things to spot on survey days.

We counted how many stairs we have at home. There were 12. So we each made 6 pictures of train carriages, numbered them from 1 - 12 and then put the correct number of buttons on each to decorate. Then we put them on the corresponding stair. Now we can practice counting in 2s or 3s...or maybe 5s if our legs would grow that long!

We used some of our massive pile of cardboard to make a cardboard train. It didn't turn out very comfortable for Vinnie to sit in, but it was a good size for Bear! Vinnie named it "The Flying Honey".

We found a train themed word search to do as well. Vinnie has also been carrying on with his writing practice and it is so lovely to see how much his writing is improving even with just a short amount of practice. It is fun to look back at the start and compare! We also finished the fun maths book that Vinnie really liked. He wants to start it again from the beginning tomorrow!
