Getting ready for Christmas!

The last few weeks have been spent doing some fun festive activities. We have done lots of games, colouring and puzzles from Vinnie's comics that have had Christmas themed fun. Vin has also chosen some activities and thought up his own ideas.

Vinnie likes to pretend to be the teacher at his school! This day he was being Mister Fantastic from the fantastic four. His lesson was for us to choose a car, have a race and see which went fastest, then to draw a picture of it and write the name.

A kind friend from our park volunteering gave Vinnie some dinosaur themed play dough. Vin had a lot of fun playing with it and making some good dinosaur noises too of course.

We found out a bit about what causes Rainbows. We experimented on a sunny day by putting some water in a glass and holding it over some white paper with the sun shining through the glass. It didn't show very clearly in the photo, but we saw a rainbow appear on the paper.

Vinnie held a party for his dinos.

We baked chocolate brownies.

We visited the Lego store. Vin was in heaven!

We played on Ashdown Forest.

We made a lovely Christmassy scene. Vin created a Christmas train for the lego people to go on that had a bakery and seats and cafes.

For some of the gifts this year we decided to make some simple salt dough decorations. Vin measured out the ingredients, rolled out the dough, and cut out the shapes.

Vin used the leftover dough to fossilise some of his dinos. He cut up the straw we'd used for making the decoration holes and used the pieces to stick in the dough and make funny shapes. He had more fun doing this than making the decorations I think!

When the decorations were dry, Vinnie painted them.

We visited the museum for Friday Fun. We learned a bit about bells, and then Vinnie made and decorated his own Christmas jingly bell!

We baked Pepernoten at Oma's house for celebrating Sinterklaas. Vinnie did some Sint themed colouring and puzzles too.

Vinnie drew a lovely picture of the Sir Nigel Gresley steam engine.

We made our own versions of the 12 days of Christmas.

Vinnie's is 1 tub of jelly beans, 2 cars, 3 trains, 4 cushions, 5 busses, 6 hugs, 7 lego minifigures, 8 lego sets, 9 wreaths, 10 christmas trees, 11 lights and 12 monster trucks!

We have also been practicing some Christmas songs and reading about the Nativity. Only 10 days until Christmas!
