We had an extended 2 week half term holiday this month. Vin wanted a bit more time to play and make up stories and use his imagination so that seemed like a nice use of his time! He made up loads of lego scenes and funny scenarios with all his characters.   We read loads of books, lots from the library as well as from Vinnie's own collection. We visited Trosley Country park with a friend and had a lovely explore. We went on a special evening visit to Nymans National Trust property to see the pretty light displays. We played lots of board games and Vinnie invented his own board game using some cardboard scrap bits from another board game as tokens and an old ferrero rocher box.  It was Vin's choice of activity this week! So we played a LOT of board games and did a LOT of reading (and I forgot to take photos or make notes because I wasn't "in charge"!) We did some more programming and rebuilding on his current model of his lego boost. We went to the playground to play with Vin's friend. We played board games that involved doing some maths adding and subtracting to defeat monsters and adding up how much treasure we got for loot. Vin played with his cogs and set each other puzzles to try and get things to move a specific way on one cog by turning a different one and had to figure out if it would need to be clockwise or anticlockwise.   We did some drawing - more lego characters for Vin!   We solved puzzles together from books and magazines. Vin built some meccano models with his dad.

This week we went on a few walks including finding a few geocaches! It's been a while since we looked for any. While out walking we saw someone had decorated their front step with "Happy Pongal!". We looked up what Pongal was and found out it is a Hindu harvest festival. We also walked through the orchards and saw all the trees and looked at how they trimmed some of them into specific shapes, some were cut right back so they had a lot of branches and some were trained along wires. We built a new Lego boost model and spent quite a lot of time building different bits for it and programming the different things and experimenting.   We read a book called "Remainder of One" together and did the maths along with the story and talked about how you could divide numbers by other numbers but if they don't divide exactly there are some left over. Vinnie wrote two thank you notes this week for his handwriting practice and also a birthday card. We visited a nearby park ...
