Vin's Learning Journey

 This week has been nice weather, we've been to the playground to do the obstacle course and played football on the green nearby and gone for walks locally. We've read lots of books together and went to the library to get some new ones.   Vin wrote and drew in a birthday card for a friend.  We did some weaving with paper and drew shapes on the finished pattern. Vin disguised some mario guys as some of his shapes! Vin practiced some typing on the computer. Vin made a quest to find the 5 keys and unlock the captured Minnie Mouse figure. We built a little Minecraft house out of lego. We read the book "Lion of the Sky". It has haiku riddles in about nature. We solved all the riddles then wrote our own. I wrote a haiku riddle, Vinnie made a whole comic puzzle quest! We looked at the world map and at the globe and looked at how the shapes of the countries are changed by representing them on a flat map.  Another scorcher of a week. We made the most of the cooler mornings by having a very early trip out for a walk on one day and a bike ride on another.  We started a new book to work through, about computers and what things they can be used for.  We did some more experimenting with line drawings. We tried out a few different materials such as pencils, felt pens, pastels and crayons and noticed the types of lines they made. We read a book called "Harold and the purple crayon". Vinnie drew some more of his own comics.  We did some super yoga videos. Vin played quite a bit of kahoot again this week. We read some lego explorer magazines about electricity and wildlife. We read a poem about a trip to Mexico and did the accompanying puzzles and activities. It was the last activity in that book so we thought back about what has been our favourite piece of writing from the book and why. We played the board game Dungeon! but with some new rules to encourage a bit of practice of...

 Vinnie was in charge of choosing the activities this week! Of course this meant we played with quite a lot of lego... We also baked some jellybean cookies, Vin did some great measuring and made his cookies extra big! We met up with some friends at the playground.  We made model planes, we coloured them in and flew them around. Vin made a lot of paper airplanes too! We looked up different mariachi music and joined in (sort of!) with our own instruments. Vin chose the my little pony yoga adventure. We submitted a couple of activities that we had done towards the Big Summer Fun Challenge. We went to Maidstone museum with some friends and enjoyed looking round all the exhibits. The microscope and the dressing up areas were popular! We joined in with a Gadgeteers Flight themed experiments zoom video. The host demonstrated some experiments to show lift and thrust and we made our own experiments at home too to make a helicopter and a kite and a rocket. We looked at photos of luxury ...
