Vin's Learning Journey

Vin played quite a lot of his kahoot times table game this week and is getting speedier with working out the answers.  We looked at a map of the United Kingdom and located some places that are important to us and where the four countries of the UK are. We also had a go on google street view and took some tours of some places around the world. We did a few cosmic kids videos this week, hulk super hero yoga, a zen den, and lulu the lioness. We looked at a self portrait by Paul Klee and read about contour lines in art. We drew our own self portraits.Vin drew a lot of Mario characters too! We read a biography of an artist, and some first person accounts of events. Then we answered some questions about them and did puzzles (and Vin drew some little pics inspired by Kung Fu panda which we watched recently!) We read the telling the time book and practiced reading some clocks.  Vin did some more typing practice. Vin wrote down the books he read for the Summer reading challenge so far ...

 Phew what a hot week! We had the hottest day ever recorded. We played with bath toys in a box of cold water and froze some toys in pots of ice to play with.   On Tuesday morning Vin's communigrow group had their summer finale. They sat in the shade and did some willow weaving to make bubble blower wands. Then they made and ate a nice refreshing salad with couscous, freshly picked cucumbers and tomatoes and other herbs and flower petals. Then they blew some bubbles with their wands, played in the sprinklers, and got their certificates to say well done. Vin enjoyed playing some more kahoot times table games this week.  He also re-read a lot of the mystery in time books from previous boxes. We did a lot of reading in fact as it was too hot to do much else!  We did part 3 of the weather watchers mystery science and recorded the weather on drawings. Vin did some more pages from the maths puzzle activity pad.  

 We watched some more videos about Samantha Cristoferetti's preparations for returning to the ISS and the launch video from a couple of months ago, then we did a space theme yoga club. We did some puzzles from the maths activity pad as well as lots of puzzles from the Sherlock Bones maths book. Vin wrote a plan for a bad guy's day off.    He practiced more typing with Mario on a couple of days. He is definitely getting more familiar with where the letters on the home row are. We went to the library and signed up for the Summer reading challenge. This year's theme is Gadgeteers. Vin browsed the shelves and picked a few books. We played lots of board games this week - Zombie Kidz evolution, pop to the shops, what's the time Mr Wolf, chess, and shut the box. Vin played on his Kahoot times table app on several days. We did the next Wild Weather mystery science and made a breeze buddy. Vin hung his up in his window so he can see how breezy it is.   We did some more tellin...
