1 March - 23 March Fun and Games
An assortment of things we have done in the last few weeks!
Vin used his lego blocks that we use for maths to make a really cute lighthouse!

Vin's been paying attention to how to write certain letters and because of this, when he concentrates, his writing is starting to look really smart. This is a sample from when we were doing some puzzles from a book with measuring and answers to questions.

Vin drew a really cute picture of pikachu. He is really liking pokemon at the moment.

We identified and drew round the different coins.

We did some fun bee themed activity sheets.

We bought a set to learn how to play the pokemon card game. It is great for practicing adding and subtracting in multiples of 10 and good fun too!

We went to the lego store for their monthly building event.

We got some more junk for our garden and made an obstacle course.

We went to the park and did some spring crafts. Vin made a frog and a drawing of a blossom-tree monster. It's really nice how when Vin draws at the moment he tells a story and more and more details are added to the drawing as he thinks up new things.

We went to the theatre to see "The Cat in the Hat". Vin and I really enjoyed it. The theatre company website had a great education pack to accompany the production. We've enjoyed doing activities from it, seeing videos of the cast, learning about the music used in the play from the composer and listening to different styles. We still have some more fun activities to do from the pack.

Inspired by Thing 1 and Thing 2, we flew some kites in the house! Well we hid lots of little paper kites with sums on. We had to find them all and then put them on the right place to tidy them away.

We went to the lambing day at Hadlow college. We saw some interesting reptiles, a Lannar falcon, lots of tractors, Vin had a go in a digger, admired some beautiful fish, and of course saw lots and lots of lambs!

We made "The Number Machine!". We used 20 pompoms and chose a number of them to put in each jar, then tip the jars into the machine to see how many they totalled! Vin has really enjoyed this game a lot and asked to play with it on several days. We progressed on later days to if the total was less than 20, we did subtraction from 20 to work out the difference.

Vin has enjoyed helping with some cooking. He had a go at making the salad to go with our meal and did most of it all on his own.

We made a numberblocks shop from one of Vin's comics. Vin did a lot of the cutting himself. He is getting lots more confident with scissors now he has a better left-handed pair. We spent nearly 2 hours doing lots of different number blocks activities from the comic. Vin is really enjoying numbers at the moment!

We went to the park and Vin made a submarine and a water cycle experiment. This inspired a bit of junk modelling creativity at home the next day too.

We have spent a lot of time in the last week or two reading together as well. We haven't done as much reading out loud in recent months as Vin reads so much on his own so it was nice to spend some time looking at stories together. Some of the stories inspired other activities too. Vin really enjoys "The Hueys" books so he wrote down all the opposites from 'What's the Opposite?"

Vin's also done lots of colouring, puzzles from comics, played lots of games, played outside lots on his scooter and bike and lots of other fun stuff.
