Christmas Countdown begins! November 19th - December 13th 2018
We've been up to a mix of things, seeing friends, playing lego (of course!) and a mixture of learning things. We've read a lot of cool books, and done some science experiments. On a couple of occasions we have just spent an hour or two at the library so Vin can sit and read to his heart's content!
Vin has enjoyed learning how to draw the ninjago characters. He's also drawn lots of pictures from his own imagination such as this glittery treasure and weapons.
Vin made a new friend ;)
We hung out with friends at Bedgebury a couple of times. During our various visits we went for walks, did some maths, played table tennis, and did the Highway rat trail and all the activity sheets.
Vin did some word searches.
We got the rice out to have a play with the rice stream, rice woods and rice volcano with some vehicles. Hidden in the rice were some questions and jigsaw puzzles all about time.
Vin created his own super mario level.
We coloured in the multiples of 5 up to 100. Then Vin wrote down the 5s that are useful when telling the time.
Vin visited the Maidstone museum with his dad. They saw Egyptian exhibits, dinosaurs, artifacts from around the world, and local history.
Vin filled in some sheets and did some colouring.
We had some fun with adjectives.
We learned about standard and non-standard measuring. We had a go at some non-standard measuring.
Vin practiced some cutting out and matching up shapes.
We learned about how soap works to mix oil and water.
We did some experiments on how water can feel warmer or colder depending on what temperature your hand is. Vin put one hand in hot water, one hand in cold water. Then he put both hands in some warm water. It was fun to see that the hot hand felt the water was cold and the cold hand felt like it was hot water!
We did some bowling.
We played a game, thinking up words beginning with letters based on the clues. Vin did some great writing.
We baked some pepernoten for Sinterklaas.
We mixed gelatine and sugar with hot water. Then poured some into 4 petri dishes and waited until it solidified. We took some swabs from around the house to see if anything will grow in the dishes.
We practiced some addition with Vin's new game "The brain train". We used beads to help us figure out what numbers we could use to get to the required total.
We made "fairy light" slime with water beads. It looked pretty but it didn't work too well!
We decorated the house for Christmas.
We made Christmas tree slime with glitter and sequins. This one worked better!
Vin coloured in a picture using photoshop. Ready to be printed and put in the window!
We decorated pinecones with glitter glue and sequins and pompoms.
Vin has been trying to decide what he would like to learn more about in the new year. He was interested in the robot that landed on mars. But he also wants to do more about sports. I'm looking forward to finding out what he chooses!
