Vin's Learning Journey

Vinnie made dinner today. He made tuna pasta bake with peas and sweetcorn. Vinnie weighed the pasta. He got out the frozen vegetables. We cooked the pasta, tomato sauce and vegetables. We stirred it all together with some tuna. Vinnie's favourite bit was tasting the tuna. Vinnie grated cheese to go on top. It baked in the oven. It tasted great!

We made an Efteling scrap book today. We looked at all the photos on the computer. Vinnie chose his favourite ones to print out. Mummy cut them out while Vinnie drew a picture of his favourite ride. We stuck the tickets in the book. Vinnie wrote "Old Timers" on his page for his favourite ride. Vinnie glued all the pictures in his book!

Snow had fallen in the night. We went out to play in it. There was only a little bit of snow. In the afternoon, we went to a home education group. One of the other families had prepared lots of information about British Wildlife. We enjoyed reading about it!

Vinnie got a skateboard for Christmas. We took it to the park for the first time today. This evening it snowed! We brought some inside. It melted.

Today is the day Vinnie is going to cook his recipe! First Vinnie peeled a carrot. He measured out some frozen peas and sweetcorn. He weighed the risotto rice. Vinnie put it in the pan in hot oil. Risotto needs to be stirred a lot. While the proper dinner cooked, Vinnie made some other dishes in the other kitchen! The dinner tasted delicious!

This morning we went for a walk with some friends. There were some good tree stumps to climb. There were a lot of sticks and branches to collect.

Our ingredients for Vinnie's recipe arrived! We drew pictures of them. We found out some fun facts about the ingredients. We found out how they helped our bodies. Captain America showed us how protein was good for growing muscles! Vinnie stuck his picture and the facts to the wall.

This week Vinnie was interested in looking at recipe books. He decided he would like to make his own recipe to cook for dinner this week. Vinnie thought of some ingredients to include, and wrote a shopping list. We are going to make a prawn risotto with carrots, sweetcorn and peas. The shopping will arrive tomorrow.

This morning we thought about what clothes we wear to look after ourselves in different weathers! We read Mr Wolf's week We looked at his outfits and the weather. We tried to remember the days of the week. We looked at how Mr Wolf and the other animals felt on each page. Then we picked out some outfits for us to wear in hot weather! Vinnie wrote the day today. He helped mummy work out what letters were in some other words. Then we chose what to wear for todays weather. Vinnie chose: Underwear Swimming shorts Jeans 2 pairs of socks Long sleeved top Jumper Coat Mittens Helmet We played outside. When we came back we had a snack. Vinnie chopped the black bits off the banana. We made apple sauce to go with our lunch. Vinnie wanted to know how butter was made. He watched a video about butter and a video about peanut butter while mummy chopped the apples. After we had lunch, Vinnie told mummy all about how butter and peanut butter are made.

This month's theme is all about Looking after ourselves. We're trying to encourage a bit more independence and also be aware of what things we do each day to take care of ourselves.
