19 - 25 June 2023 (week 25)

 This week we did some more activities about money. We practiced identifying coins and adding them up. We played Ed and Bunny go shopping. Vinnie filled in an activity sheet with lots of addition and subtraction of money. V read a couple of story books about people saving money and raising money. We also did some white rose maths activities. We did the letterbox lab experiment making a rubber band helicopter. We tried out different things to find out the best balance between size and weight of the helicopter compared to the blades.  Vinnie did some pages from his handwriting book, his comprehension activities book and his spelling practice book.  He drew some lovely fun pictures. He is very inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog at the moment so has drawn some fun scenes with the characters from the games and cartoons. We did some puzzles together. 12 - 18 June (week 24)

 We had more fun with shapes this week, practicing drawing some 2D shapes and looking at lines of symmetry. We found out about the properties of 3D shapes and practiced counting their faces, edges and vertices. We looked at ways of sorting shapes and at patterns. Vinnie did pages from his comprehension activity book, his spelling, punctuation and grammar book, and his handwriting book each day. We also read some of the lift the flap SPaG book. We got a new letterbox lab and had fun making a pico-pult. Vin drew a cute school to aim him at. We experimented with different numbers of sticks in the catapult and had fun taking some slow motion videos of our attempts. We looked at the world map and had a recap about the previous mystery in time, re-did the quiz and looked at the timeline. We solved some more puzzles from Vin’s missing astronaut puzzle book. 5 - 11 June (week 23)

We had last week as half term and relaxed and read stories and Vinnie played lots in the garden. This week: Vinnie helped his daddy to make a big batch of bolognese sauce. We did activities to do with shapes this week. We did some puzzles from White Rose maths, made different 2D shapes using lolly sticks, and talked about the properties of 2d shapes. Vinnie did a page from his comprehension activity book and one from his grammar book about possessive apostrophes. We wrote acrostic poems about a favourite toy. We started reading a new book all about grammar. No, not grandma, grammar. We built a scene of the Solar System. We watched some mini mysteries on mystery science. We did lots of draw-along videos. Vinnie also drew lots of cute things, and some epic showdowns of heroes fighting robots and a Bunny vs Monkey scene. Vinnie filled in another Banjo Robinson sheet, this week about Costa Rica. We went to Drusillas and saw lots of lovely animals and rode on all the rides.

21 - 27 may 2023 (week 21)

 We did some white rose maths puzzles. Then we started an activity book called the Missing Astronaut with lots of fun space themed puzzles in. We did puzzles from this every day. We made our own Phoenix Fates and Fortunes style stories - a branching story with different choices to make as you read. We went for a walk with Oma and made daisy chains. We chose a mini mystery to watch on mystery science. Vinnie chose “How is ice cream made?”. Then we also watched the top 5 interesting ways to make candy which was pretty amazing! Vinnie wrote a letter to a friend (oops I just remembered we still need to post!) and drew a fun picture. We thought about our daily routines and made a poster of it. Vinnie filled in a fun sheet all about fruits from around the world and came up with some of his own fruits, describing them and drawing them so I could try and match them up.
