Vin's Learning Journey

We have been on holiday to the Lake District! There have been loads of learning opportunities. Vin seems to find things to learn about wherever he is! We started the very day we got there - the house we stayed in had a box of a dozen of the Beatrix Potter books. Over the course of the 2 weeks, we read them all together. We learned a bit about Beatrix Potter and how she loved the Lake District and had an influence on a lot of farming in the area. The house we stayed in had its water source from a spring. This was very different to at home! We talked about how our water comes from a reservoir and is treated in a big water treatment plant and sent to many houses. Whereas from the spring, it only went to a small number of houses and each house treated the water with a special pump and filter. The first day, it was so rainy! Vin hasn't seen any of the Star Wars films but he enjoys the books and characters and of course the toys. He chose to do a Star Wars theme for a few weeks! We've had some Storm Troopers surfing in water beads (and lots of other fun scooping and pouring and squishing the beads): Lots of geocaching adventures: Star wars sticker and activity books: The shelves were filled with Star Wars themed lego, books and games! We did some Star Wars themed pattern making and maths and cutting practice: We made a graph charting how many times each character appeared on the face of the die: And some more adding and subtracting practice as well as measuring: Lots of Star Wars theme lego was built: We had a go at drawing some Star Wars characters and locations: (top to bottom: starkiller base, R2D2, a wompa, tie fighter, storm trooper) We made an acrostic poem about Darth Vader.
